The Tree Troll

6 months after my father passed on, I had a dream of him sitting gently in the woods having become a tree himself. I awoke with the knowledge this sculpture had to be built and immediately so. 23 of my close friends volunteered their time and energy to see it done within that month. It was a beautiful act of community and kindness. The Tree Troll toured charitable events for two years before being sold to the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas, where he resides to this day.
Papier-mâché, cardboard, tinfoil, wood, house paint.
Height: 10 feet. Created 2005.

A portrait of my father, a lumberjack in Montana, built with the help of 23 volunteers in papier-mâché over two delightful weeks in 2005.
